What if other parts are damaged as well as the contacts?
In the great majority of cases the cause of the failure is the contacts so cleaning the movement and fitting our circuit board will restore the clock to full operation; in fact the contacts often fail early in the clock's life so the rest of the mechanism is usually left in good condition.
On some clocks the solenoid coil will have failed. Often a broken solenoid winding can be re-soldered, if not we sell replacement solenoids - please contact us for details. If other parts of the movement are worn or broken then they can often be replaced from our stock of donor clocks.
Please see the Pre Repair Checks video on our videos page This shows how to test your solenoid and includes other simple checks you can carry out to make sure that your clock is repairable.
